Supported File Types
On this page
Thanks to Autodesk Platform Services, Moicon supports a whole variety of file formats. In fact we support upwards of 70 different formats. To know exactly what file formats are supported head over to Autodesk's translator documentation.
Translation may take some time depending on the size and complexity of the model and the service load.
We support Separate gLTF (.gltf, .bin, and texture files). This then produces a text-based JSON, .gltf file describing the overall structure. It comes with a .bin file containing mesh and vector data, and optionally .png or .jpg files containing textures used in the model. You can export your model to .gltf by using software such as Blender.
How to prepare a DWG AutoCAD 3D file for upload
Most DWG files need no preparation at all. Upload the file as it is, 3D content included, and Moicon handles the translation.
Very large 3D assets are the exception worth knowing about. Exploding the asset in AutoCAD before you upload gives the translator a simpler structure to work through, which starts to matter once a model gets big. The video below walks through exploding an asset and exporting it as 3D DWF.
