How Digital Twins Are Created? Explained In 5 Minutes.
While the topic may bring a lot of misunderstandings and doubts, we decided to show you how, in fact, easy under the hood, it is.
- What Is Digital Twin?
- How It's Made? 3D Modeling Of a Digital Twin.
- Texturing
- Run It In Your Browser.
- Transform Your 3D Model Into a Cloud-Based Digital Twin.
What Is Digital Twin?
Let's start with a definition - It refers to a replica, or virtual simulation model of a machine or production line before making a real one. To either test, various layouts, check the potential bottlenecks or track the processes by visualizing production data in real-time. The twin can be used to simulate the operations of a piece of equipment or production line in a virtual environment before any decisions concerning manufacturing. This helps save in costs and reduces the risks related to costly investments.

The older facilities which were built before the era of CAD models, have to be modeled from the ground up. The team responsible for that part, often based on floor plans as well as laser scans and/or photography. Such materials allow recreating the building with a millimeter precise in three dimensions.

The floor plan is the most important part in making a Digital Twin
Texturing
Texture mapping is a method for defining high-frequency detail, surface texture, or color information on top of the model. Thanks to previously taken photographs, the model can be wrapped with images to exactly resemble the real object. The process simulates near-photorealism in real-time by vastly reducing the number of polygons and lighting calculations needed to construct a realistic and functional 3D scene.
This is the feature that will transform the world of business as we see it as testing and development will become an effortless series of executions that are driven by data.

Finally, such a prepared model can be uploaded to Moicon's viewer. It lets the clients have the ability to continuously optimize their virtual twin without having to intervene with the process once a sufficient amount of data has been collected. By taking this route of product or service development, the software can use the information it receives from the physical twin and makes decisions that would lead to positive outcomes for the product all by itself.
